Balenciaga Spring 2013

It feels like i’m coming out of hibernation to do this post. The weather in London has suddenly turned, and while Autumn is most definitely my favourite season, it was a huge shock to the system. We didn’t even have a great Summer, but the change in the amount of daylight has made me want to spend my evenings curled up in bed with the boy and a good book. This and the fact that my workload has trebled just before I leave my current job means that blogging has been put on the back bench. That was… until I saw the Balenciaga show. Major Swoon. I want everything, even down to the beautiful bucket bags and jewellry. How lush are the rings?

And there were the bags… I want every single one.

The usual crowd were out in force to celebrate LFW: Alexa Chung, Pixie Geldof and Poppy Delevingne to name a few. Olivia Palermo also came over from the States to show her support for multiple brands, including the amazing Jonathan Saunders. The slightly strange additions to the front row this season was Bill Nighy, a guest of Anna Wintours, at Nicole Farhi. He seemed to enjoy himself! Burberry as usual packed their front row to the brim but this season included particularly interesting people including the beautiful Victoria Pendleton. I’m loving that the fashion world has embraced the Olympics by inviting the incredible athletes of 2012. Jessica Ennis being front row at Mulberry was highlight for me!

I am just as obsessed with the Olsen twins style as I am about Erin Wasson (which says a lot)… and have adored their designs ever since they released this amazing video in 2007 to launch The Row.The only issue, is that The Row pieces are usually the same price as a deposit on a house… so I admire from a distance.

But, this S/S 2013 presentation of their younger (and a little cheaper…hopefully!) collection Elizabeth and James showed a lot of what makes The Row so special: minimalistic pieces with beautifully sourced fabric and an amazing attention to detail. I cannot wait to see this Elizabeth and James collection in the flesh and finally purchase something of their creation!

Front Row NYFW

Some of my favourite “frowers” from NYFW. Kate Bosworth in particular is a veteran of these events, and always comes out looking beauuutiful. Olivia Palermo also never puts a foot wrong and I could have posted loads of pictures of her (and I will for LFW!) – one thing is though, she never looks relaxed. It’s almost.. too polished?

My favourite has to be Emmanuelle Alt – I simply love her. Her style is minimalistic and quite frankly realistic seeming as she is editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris she is probably running from show to show. But she always manages to look effortlessly chic, and so Parisian. Jealous.

Heritage/Country, Print design (but this season with a twist – embroidery and appliqué on the surface) and finally Peplum were the key looks for London A/W’12. Peplum first started out in S/S’12 and is here to stay for A/W’12 according to London! I really love the country classic trend, it’s so incredibly British and will be easy to buy into the trend because of our awful weather!
